The Blogosphere is a vast endless place and it is really hard to know where to begin when you start a blog . I want to explore the process of creating a blog, choosing the niche for your content, picking a theme and style. The art of blogging is really becoming like rocket science with SEO - which means "Search Engine Optimization", page rank, search engine listing, keywords, how to layout your page, creating or buying content, adwords, adsense, and the list goes on and on.
Tip #1:
For a quick study on SEO, click the Crowd Mountain image above and check it out for $1 for 12 days. It's well worth the buck because I learned so much that I opted in for a second month so I could learn more to optimize my new domain blogs.
I won't lay too much on you all at once. This will be a focused series to help you, the newbie blogger, the blogger who has blogged on your personal blog but are venturing into the "getting paid to blog ranks" and the affiliate marketers who are taking the blogging route to promote your affiliate programs. That said, I will start slow and take the process in steps. You can help me by directing questions in the comment section to let me know what part of blogging for pay you would like to understand.
Tip #2: Choose quality blog templates that will accent your niche style and compliment your writing content. Now give it real personality that makes it uniquely "you".
Before you chose a theme, you have to select your niche. What are you writing about? Recipes, apples, movie stars, the latest news, politics...blackberries, etc. You get the idea. Choose a specific niche that has potential for growth and make sure the topic is not too narrow for you to elaborate upon in five hundred posts. A blog is a big online journal that slowly develops into a book size creation.
Once you have chosen your niche, pick a theme for your template.
- Will it be blue, black, purple?
- Will your blog have one, two or three columns?
- Will it have a header image or a logo?
- What kind and size and color of font will you use?
- Will you choose Blogger or Wordpress or some other publishing format?
- Will your blog have a paid domain name or will it be hosted with a domain name?
Once we explore these areas, and you make your final decisions on the above areas, then we'll talk about "types of blogs". There are many so see how many you can list in the comment section below and we'll discuss the list in this series "How do you Decide what Kind of Blog you will Build?"
Come back for part two coming soon. Keep on blogging and Keep It Simple.
