Looking at the World with New Eyes

Some days I get very melancholy and I start to ponder the deep things of life. I used to enjoy just sitting by the window looking out at the view. As my mind would wander far off into other places and time or even into space or as I would visit the memories that I cherish, I noticed the things around me with a different perspective. Though I was looking out the window and even though I could see it while I wandered on a different thought plane, I still took time to really look at my surroundings.

For the first time I noticed the windows on the old grocery store across the street. They were framed with shutters and I was certain that someone was looking back at me from the upstairs. I stared over at this person for the longest time before I decided to get my camera and take a picture. That photograph was developed and put away for years without really noticing it.

One day, years later, I pulled out the old photos of my teen years and I saw the face and form of the person looking back at me while I took a picture from the upstairs window across the street. It was an apparition that showed up in the photo as a shadowy form about the color of mist yet with discernible features. I was intrigued.

I stared at the photograph for the longest time just wondering if it was a departed spirit that you hear so much about today. Visitations are real, I believe that. So I thought that the spirit in the photograph probably wondered if I could see them. What do you think? Have you ever had a similar experience?
