Tredding Onward

This trip to DC has been a long and very adventurous one. Nebraska has acted like some sort of vortex, pulling us in for a few days as we travel the long 450 mile wide state. Taking time to find facilities at which to work on freelance writing projects has impacted the time frame. Today, however, we are moving down the road.

We can smell the fresh grassy fields of Iowa in the near distance.

Our mileage remaining is approximately 1200 miles. The new goal date to reach our destination is Friday, November 7, 2008. The election will be over so DC will be bustling with the White House changing of the guard. It should prove to be a very fascinating time to be in the nation's capital.

Our appointment yesterday with Mark Rey was re-scheduled, not by us, but by Mark Rey's office. It seems as though that date was just not the right one. As much as we hurried to make this date, one thing after another prevented it. We wondered if we would need to make the cancellation call. What a sigh of relief when Amanda Lockwood, Assistant to the Undersecretary of Agriculture contacted us to make a new appointment.

Breathing a sigh of relief for having been given a reprieve, we continue the journey across the United States from California to Washington DC, always with laptop in tow ready to write.
