Cheyenne by Morning

Yesterday we drove across Wyoming in our determination to make the October 31 deadline for the meeting in Washington DC. As we cruised in the cool darkness through the Medicine Bow National Forest Mountains, we knew that Cheyenne by morning was the realistic goal.

At 2:30 am we pulled into the Flying J in Cheyenne. It had been a very long day. Looking at one another, we agreed to relay by taking short naps of two to four hours over the next two days, in hopes of driving the 1800 miles. The resolve was good and our intentions were honorable. The alarm went off at 6:30 am falling on deaf ears.

Awakening at 10 am, we looked at one another again, and said, "That didn't work. Let's keep trying."

Today's goal for miles is 300, better is great if we make it. We're driving an old van, a 1973 Dodge Tradesman 300. She only likes short stints of 100- 150 miles before taking her rest.

Realizing that I needed to keep up with my internet work, we stopped at Starbucks for one hour to check job listings and assignments in ten blogging companies. Knowing that I would only have time to write one post, I chose this site since it gets a lot of regular visitors who might be interested in our travel progress for this important meeting with the Undersecretary of Agriculture Mark Rey.

One other realization struck us today. We might not make the deadline with our current status. It might be a phone conference as we continue the journey to Washington DC where we will work and live for about two months. Onward we ride!
